MSN Public Service Announcement - Renew America Together and Be The Change

It is not too late to volunteer for the National Day of Service!

"Editor's note: In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, MSN is running a public service announcement for usaservice.org. Why is it running in this space, where we normally highlight interesting popular searches? Usaservice.org is all about searching for ways to help others out.

What's below was written by MSN staff.

Martin Luther King Jr. paid the steepest price in his service to his country. And his personal sacrifice in order to improve conditions for the less fortunate continues to inspire. On this MLK holiday weekend, one Web site in particular is asking you to get involved.

Usaservice.org is a nonprofit Web site from some of the people behind Barack Obama's wildly successfully campaign site. It calls for visitors to "renew America together." How? The premise is simple. It connects people to events and vice versa. A public service match-up, if you will.
They're asking people to volunteer during the holiday weekend -- and beyond.

The site makes it a snap to search for and find local volunteer opportunities as well as post a call for others to help with an event you're hosting. As of Jan. 14, more than 8,500 events have been registered on the site.

How can you get involved? It all starts here."
